Road Safety Week Kick Starts in Green Land Sr. Sec Public School in Ludhiana

To inculcate the culture of road safety, Green Land Sr. Sec. Public school in Ludhiana, in collaboration with traffic department of Ludhiana, declared to observe Road Safety Week from 11th Jan, 2015 to 17th Jan, 2015. On the first day (11th Jan, 2015) an Inter School Declamation and Slogan Writing Contests were organized in which the teams of 20 CBSE & Punjab Board schools of Ludhiana participated and manifested their concern over the lack of traffic in our country. Mr. Naveen Singla (IPS) DCP, Ludhiana and Mr. Anil Garg, PCS, DTO, Ludhiana marked the occasion with their gracious presence. The distinguished guests were welcomed by Mr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman cum Director of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra President, and Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Principal of Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School in Ludhiana. The guests were given a guard of honour by 3 Punjab Battalion NCC. The programme was given an auspicious start with Shabad singing and Saraswati Vandana.

The theme of Declamation Contest “Road Safety is not just a slogan but a way of life” was lived upon in various speeches delivered by the students in all three languages – English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Mr. Naveen Singla (IPS) DCP, Ludhiana appreciated the efforts made by the school to spread awareness and inculcate ‘Road Sense’ among Ludhiana citizens. Mr. Anil Garg, PCS, DTO, Ludhiana impressed upon the need of following the traffic rules. He said that drunken driving is the main cause of accidents on highways. It should be strictly prohibited. Addressing the audience, Mr. Rajesh Rudhra expressed his concern towards the unsafe and rash driving done by the youngsters. He said that youngsters’ must recognize the value of life shedding away the callous and irresponsible driving on roads. Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, the school Principal also impressed upon following traffic rules seriously and adopting a road sense in our living culture.

Rishav Aggarwal of KVM School stood I Taranjit Kaur of BCM bagged II and Palak of Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School; Jalandhar Bye Pass got III position. Malika of Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye Pass, bagged consolation prize.
